Andrea has generalist and specialist expertise as an HR Consultant and for the past ten years has excelled in HR management positions within various small, medium and large size companies.

Some of Andrea’s specialist experience is in the fields of Training and Development, Monitoring and Evaluation, Change Management and Industrial Relations.

Andrea is logical, organized, has excellent communication skills and above average computer literacy skills. She has proven herself to be an asset to all her projects and invaluable to the company. Her drive, enthusiasm and excellent client relations are trademarks of her consulting successes.

Background
Dave began his human resource management career in training (Free Market Foundation) and later moved to the foundry industry (Murray & Roberts Engineering). After working in the electronics industry (Plessey), Dave co-founded Human Alliance in 2001. Dave oversees the Consulting Division of Human Alliance.

Since the formation of Human Alliance he has been exposed to and gained invaluable experience across a variety of industries such as Engineering, Food & Beverage, Services, Wholesale & Retail, Clothing, Manufacturing and Printing & Packaging. This experience has been gained in large, medium and small enterprises in these industries.

Dave’s excellent communication ability makes him equally comfortable in the board room of a corporate or in the office of the owner of a small business. He is a Solutions Seeker who has the ability to simplify issues and to provide realistic and workable solutions. Dave is a relationship builder who forges strong relationships between Human Alliance and its clients. Furthermore, his fluency in Xhosa enables him to cross communication barriers with ease.

Michelle Vernon

Background
Michelle began her human resources career at Plessey (Telecommunications and Electronics), and was one of Human Alliance’s first employees 2001. She left to join Donaldson Filtration Systems (Auto Motive Industry) in 2003. Michelle started working as a consultant in May 2011 and returned to the Human Alliance fold as a part time employee in 2012.

In addition to her experience gained in the Telecommunications, Electronics and Automotive Industries Michelle has since 2011 been exposed to and gained great know-how across a variety of industries including Financial Services, Manufacturing, E-Commerce and the Clothing Industry. Her experience has been gained across the spectrum from large global organisations to small local start-ups.

As an experience and versatile generalist, Michelle’s primary driver is helping clients create a balanced working environment where the needs of both employer and employee are met and underpinned by good structure and legal compliance.

Simon Smit

Background
Simon served as a Labour Relations Manager for a well-established consulting firm in Sandton, Johannesburg where he gained extensive IR work experience across various sectors before moving down to the fairest Cape.

Simon specialises in giving practical day-to-day labour advice, chairing disciplinary hearings, and handling all forms of labour consultations and disputes. He also assists clients proactively to ensure that the right policies, procedures, contracts and templates are in place and that Management is well-trained on how to handle labour matters fairly and follow the appropriate procedures.
